Cars.com’s Best Midsize Pickup of 2016
In creating the first smart-sized luxury pickup, GMC have found a winning formula. After intensive testing, Cars.com named the 2016 Canyon the best midsize pickup. GMC’s offering won out against good competition from Honda and Chevrolet. The Ridgeline and Colorado offered good performance in individual categories, but failed significantly in others. The Canyon, meanwhile, performed admirably in all categories tested by Cars’ editors.
Professional-grade performance was on full display. The 2016 model can be upgraded to Duramax 2.8L turbo diesel 4-cylinder engine. It comes with standard Tow/Haul Mode, Hill Start Assist, and StabiliTrak® with Traction Control.
All-New 2017 GMC Canyon
Despite the Canyon’s success, GMC isn’t resting on its laurels. For 2017, they’ve announced an expansion of the Canyon lineup. Specifically, GMC is going to to introduce All Terrain X and Denali variants of the mid-sized standout. All Terrain X, is GMC’s exclusive off-road package. The Canyon variant will feature off-road suspension, a unique interior with red stitching, a 3.6L V-6 and more.
As GMC’s most premium trim, Denali needs little introduction. Often touted as the pinnacle of professional grade, Denali offers premium aesthetic features as well as standard mechanical and safety enhancements. In the 2017 Canyon Denali, drivers get a Bose seven-speaker system, Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning, automatic climate control, and more. For the best in pickup and SUV luxury, people have long trusted the Denali trim.
Additionally, across the whole lineup of Canyons, GMC is introducing a wealth of features to entrench their position at the top. GMC says the new 3.6L V6 combined with an eight-speed automatic transmission will provide “confident acceleration and smoother shift performance.” Drivers will also enjoy features like:
New IntelliLink radio with 7-inch-diagonal colour touchscreen
Standard Teen Driver Mode through IntelliLink
Exterior colours Dark Slate Metallic, Mineral Metallic and Red Quartz Metallic
