GMC Acadia and Terrain Black Edition

Acadia and Terrain Black Edition

With the sheer amount of SUVs and trucks on Canadian roads, it can be hard not to feel invisible driving one. That’s likely a major reason their drivers love spending money to modify the appearance of their vehicles. Some choose lift kits, gaudy racing stripes, obnoxious stickers, and gleaming chrome wheels. But others prefer to express their identity more subtly. For them, I recommend the new Terrain Black Edition and Acadia Black Edition from GMC.

Black Edition

Per Duncan Aldred, vice president of Global GMC, “The new Terrain and Acadia Black Editions perfectly capture the identity of the GMC brand by offering a bold and confident exterior appearance. They give our customers more choices within the premium SUV segment to distinguish their vehicle and themselves.”

As Aldred hints, the Black Edition offers only cosmetic upgrades. It does not include a bigger engine, or even an improved interior. But, after seeing the pictures of the new crossovers, both 2019 models, that not such a bad thing. The Black Editions include a suite of understated modifications that combine for a pretty impressive effect.

Terrain Black Edition

For the 2019 Terrain, the Black Edition is available on SLE & SLT models. The highlights are certainly the 19” gloss black aluminum wheels and darkened grille insert with black surround. These features blend well with the Terrain’s new sleek profile that was introduced for 2018. The Terrain Black Edition also includes the following:

  • Black mirror caps, roof rails and more accents
  • Black exterior model and trim badging
  • Ebony Twilight Metallic, Summit White, Graphite Gray Metallic, Satin Steel Metallic and new Sedona Metallic

Acadia Black Edition

Like the Terrain model, the Acadia Black Edition upgrades consist primarily of the signature black grille and matching wheels. In this case, the rims are 20” and even darker than the Terrain’s. The Black Edition is only available on the SLT model. Additional features include:

  • Black headlamp and taillamp details
  • Black mirror caps, roof rails and additional exterior accents
  • Offered in five exterior colors: Ebony Twilight Metallic, Summit White, White Frost Tricoat and, new for 2019, Dark Sky Metallic and Smokey Quartz Metallic

Obviously, the Terrain and Acadia Black Edition crossovers do not offer the complete luxury of the Denali trim level. However, the packages allow drivers to step into pretty striking SUVs without paying much more than the standard trim price. Both models will be available in the summer of this year as 2019 models.
